Management Strategies for Pharmaceuticals in Drinking Water

Duration: 01.10.2005 - 31.05.2008

This project is examining (1) the conditions under which pharmaceutical inputs cause systemic risks for the drinking water supply and (2) the dynamics of such risks. Working together with stakeholders, this project aims to combine measures to reduce pharmaceutical input levels in drinking water to create a strategy for dealing with systemic risks.  These measures involve not only technical solutions but also changes in consumer behaviour and the development of innovative, environmentally-compatible pharmaceutical substances.
