Research for Sustainability (fona) - The initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). How can broader use be made of the results of sustainability research? How can the networking of actors involved in research for sustainability be pushed forward?
The bewildering array of individual results gained from research can only make a contribution to sustainability if they are also implemented in practice. To do so, it must be ensured that the relevant target groups from industry and the training sector are reached.
The goals of the fona initiative of the BMBF are:

  • broader use of research for sustainability by combining and providing a comprehensive description of the research activities;
  • setting up a network of actors through thematic linking of actors to research content and current information.

The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) was established by the German government in 2001. It advises the government on its policy for sustainable development and, by presenting proposals for targets and indicators, seeks to contribute towards the advancement of the strategy of sustainable development as well as to propose projects designed to realise the strategy.

http://www.transdisciplinarity.ch/ The network for transdisciplinarity was initiated to advance transdisciplinary research in a variety of areas. The starting point are experiences gained in the environmental and sustainability sciences.
